Life In 'Cruces

Life In 'Cruces – Nick at 47!
I don’t even know where to start to describe my 47th birthday. The trip to Las Cruces started on Friday, August 7th – I arrived around 1:30 p.m. and immediately went shopping. I needed some retail therapy. My next event was checking into my hotel room in Mesilla. I had to unpack all my goodies including wine, food, and booze. I then I headed out to explore the two cities – Las Cruces and Mesilla. I am totally in love with Las Cruces. I ended my Friday with two dinners, lots of wine, and my favorite shows on the TV.
Saturday – My Birthday – I can never sleep in – so – I was up when the sun popped over the Organ Mountains - I like these mountains, but they are not as pretty as Albuquerque’s Sandia Mountains. Sorry...sorry Las Cruces!!
Back to my day…I got ready and I immediately headed to the plaza in Mesilla for some picture taking, walking, exploring, waving at people, and just loving that little town. Check out the town’s website -
My next stop was picking up my chocolate birthday cake from Indulgence Bakery on South Main St. The cake was the BOMB! I love some chocolate and mixed with a glass of red wine – damn – I was in HEAVEN. Check them out -
I topped off BIRTHDAY by having a birthday lunch at St. Clair - D.H. Lescombes Winery & Tasting Room. I love that place. The food was great, and the drinks were WONDERFUL. I had a big plate of pasta and a wine flight. St. Clair’s patio is very big! I felt like I was in another world. Of course you have to check out St. Clair’s website -
The remainder of the day was spent riding around Las Cruces, shopping, hanging out in the room, and of course…drinking!
Sunday – I got up a little later than usual and headed out for some more riding around. I apartment/house shopped but did not go to the farmer’s market though. That made me sad a little. After a lot of riding around, it was time for lunch, and I ended up at Panda Express. I know…nothing fancy, but I didn’t want to sit outside, and it was hot. Sunday was very relaxing, and I needed a day to just kick back.
Monday and my return to Albuquerque – I got up at 6 a.m. and left out at 7. I did not want to leave. I wanted to spend the week in Las Cruces, but I had to return to life in ABQ. I got back home at 10 a.m., unpacked the rental car, and immediately headed to get a taco salad from Sadie’s on Eubank. Then I spent some more “me time” riding around and shopping before I had to return the rental car. Once the car was back, I was back to my life in Albuquerque and my little Baby Volvo!
I really enjoyed myself in Las Cruces!! I can’t wait to move there and press the “RESET” button on my life!!

Life In 'Cruces – My Birthday Week is the week of August 3rd - 8th – My Birthday Week. I am taking off starting Thursday and I am so excited. I need this break so much! I have worked myself silly this year. Rona did not give me a break. I still had to work through all of the shutdowns, change in hours, and other drama. I work for a private agency that stayed open. I am glad the agency stayed open, but it has been hard.

Back to my week...I am going to Las Cruces for my birthday and start getting ready for my 2021 move. I am going to check out areas to live, check out retail space for my future projects, and check out restaurants to blog about. I am going to take plenty of pictures and of course blog everything. I am also going to rest and reset my mind and soul.

I only have two more days to work and I can't wait to be free from the job and from ABQ for a few days. As I write this tonight...I am listening to The Motels and sipping red wine. A cool breeze is coming in my window. I love August nights – some are cool and some are hot.

Welcome to My Soon to Be Life In ‘Cruces!!
